The late Mr. Ng Soon Heng came from an old family from the rural parts of Singapore. After he had served in the Singapore army for 2 years he went to the city to work. He started off as a construction worker, but soon worked in the furniture industry doing everything from producing case goods furniture, to selling and delivering mattresses.
He established his own business, a furniture showroom in Singapore, starting a family tradition that would last till today.
Through a partnership, he established his first sofa manufacturing plant in Malaysia, starting a long tradition of sofa making. That same year, he registered and started developing his first sofa brand “Lorenzo”, starting his brand building tradition as well.
Started with his first retail store in Taiwan in 1992, Mr. Ng began his cross national sofa retail business. In 1998, he took his first step into China, and started a sofa factory in Kunshan. Some of the workers who joined that factory are still building sofas for Emilca today.
Mr. Ng’s son (Keith) was posted to China, after helping out over a few years in the Singapore and Malaysia operations. The son believes that China has enormous potential and decided to devote his long term future here.
Mr. Ng and Keith helped the company to be listed on the Singapore Stock Exchange (SGX-SESDAQ).
Mr. Ng retired, and Keith resigned from Lorenzo. Keith, with his old Chinese team, went on to start his brand “Emilca”, naming the brand after the names of his daughter and son, Emily and Lucas.
The new brand seeks to be the young face in front of a traditional mindset, and with an eye to the future generations as well.
Armed with a new concept and new designs, and supported by old customers, old suppliers and the old team, Emilca grew rapidly. She now has nearly 200 employees, and exports over 75 containers a months, to wholesalers and retailers all over the world.
After 10 years, Keith, with the Emilca team, continues to design, create, and produce for many retailers, indirectly furnishing the homes of thousands of families all over the Asia Pacific region each month.
Amy Home has an experienced team. Our process technicians come from five different countries and have been working with us for 10 to 20 years. To ensure the stability of product quality, we never change our supplier system, just like the old German cars that never changed the way they were made. Therefore, our sofas are also classic and of the same quality.
Emilca has an experienced team. Our craftsmen hail from 5 different countries, each having been with us for 10 to over 20 years. To ensure consistency, for years we use the same suppliers. Like old German cars, we do not change our build up . So our sofas are still hardy like the good old days.
As a traditional Singaporean enterprise, our products adhere to the concept of “paying attention to details, taking what is necessary without unnecessary decoration”. We always keep our advertising and showroom style simple and rustic. We rarely invite models or celebrities to endorse our products, and use a tight and precise price calculation system to give more profits to our customers and consumers.

Since our establishment in Singapore in 1983, we have continued to forge ahead in different countries, from Malaysia, Thailand, Taiwan, Indonesia, and now we are in China. We believe that a company’s excellent heritage is more valuable than a well-known brand, because people can buy brand awareness with money, but they cannot buy the fine traditions accumulated over time.

Most Singaporeans are good travelers, and we travel all over the world to find good design inspiration. We often participate in exhibitions in Cologne, Milan, Singapore, China and other Asian countries. In addition, our Danish designers inject authentic Scandinavian elements into our products.
Singaporeans are a well traveled lot. We scour the world tirelessly for the best design inspirations. We visit Koln and Milan often, as well as many othershows in Singapore, China and otherparts of Asia. We have a Danishdesigner that helps us with a newrange of Scandinavian design.
